Expanded Signature Guidelines
Further to the existing signature guidelines in this sites Rules & Guideline, this information is intended to expand and explain what is recommended, required and desirable in your signature and its use.- Plain text only is actually enforced. Any attempts to use BBCode or Smilies will not work as they do in the body of your messages
- Keep it brief, you are actually limited to 255 characters but keep it less than 5 lines.
- Include your name, there's not yet any place for your real name in this software's user profile, so we are requiring you include these details in your signature. Please include at least your first (called) name and the initial of your last (family) name. We are a club that intends always to be on first named terms between members - unfortunately some of us have the same firstname
so the details of your surname are to pe provided so that you can be uniquely identified - Make it useful, feel free to provide any information you feel will be useful, but we are an automobile based club so some brief details of your vehicles is appreciated - and can save some time in technical discussions ie. others will have a clue what model/year you are talking about.
- Use it, this software allows you to post without incluing your signature - only use this feature when posting a message to a Topic when you've already posted a message to that Topic and included your signature, and you are specifically trying to keep your message brief.
These signature rules and guidelines are merely intended to help keep the site running smoothly, if you feel the need to discuss them then please post to the User Feedback forum. |

I'd just like to draw everyone's attention to the fact that the above guidelines suggest that signatures should be 5 lines or less. Over time this point has been flexible but it seems we are now getting to the stage where something needs to be enforced.
After Labor Day 2005, if you make a post and your signature contains more than 5 lines then you will be sent a PM to ask you to reduce its length. If you post again after being sent a reminder then your signature will be edited for you to reduce its length.
And yes, blank lines do count as lines, and all of the above guidelines should still be followed.
If you feel like 5 lines is not enough or you have anything else to say about the signature guidelines, then the User Feedback forum is always open
